Anxiety Disorder Montreal
Anxiety disorders can take a number of different forms. Generalized
anxiety disorder occurs when normal concerns or worries become more
acute, more frequent, and more unreasonable. People suffering with
this type of anxiety often cannot get thoughts out of
their mind—interrupting their concentration, their sleep,
and their normal activity. Panic attacks are moments of acute anxiety
that come on suddenly seemingly from nowhere, and are often accompanied
by physical symptoms—shortness of breath, dizziness, palpitations,
trembling, sweating, and shaking, a fear of dying or of losing control.
Other forms of anxiety are social phobias, like agoraphobia or post-traumatic
stress disorder. These can be identifi ed and treated in therapy.
